Day 7: "Pasce Agnos Meos" - Feed my sheep - John 21:16

LOOK-UP:  John 21 "Jesus appears to seven disciples"

Apse, St. Mary's Chapel, Saint Paul Seminary, MN.

Bancel La Farge painted the renowned apse mural depicting the scene on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.  The scene is well-recognized and passed on a daily basis by all the seminarians of Saint Paul Seminary in their own St. Mary's Chapel.  No less than 3 times a day do the seminarians pass under the mural (7 AM, Morning Prayer; 11:35 AM Holy Mass; 5 PM Evening Prayer).

At the time of the piece, the Archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis specifically requested this scene to be the one depicted that his seminarians would spend hours upon hours over years reflecting upon.  It is a scene of reconciliation - a scene of mercy - a scene of acknowledging that we as future ministers constantly are reminded that not by our own merits - but only by his forgiveness have we been "worthy" of such a call.
